The debate over Gurmehar Kaur has become so confusing and vitiated that at this point, taking a position is akin to putting the head under a virtual guillotine.
Black and white boxes have emerged and in the kangaroo courts of media, you are either a ‘troll who bullies a martyr’s daughter and justifies rape and death threats’ or a ‘liberal’. There is little room for measured arguments, littler still for nuance and absolutely none for contrarian views.
But the controversy has come at the right time for the Indian Cricket team. The limelight from the crushing defeat in Pune has shifted totally to a different place all together. Never before has it happened that an Indian team’s loss has been not written much about and dragged under the carpet by the footage hungry media.
Virat Khli has written a personal letter of appreciation to Gurmehar for helping the Indian team in maintaining its dignity. Contrary to the populist view, Indian team thinks that Gurmehar is the real Nationalist who came out in support of team India.
With 24 wickets falling in two days, the rank turner on offer at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune has led to questions being raised about the three curators in charge of preparing the pitch
Two days before the Test started, Salgaoncar had announced that “ball will fly”, a theory that was rubbished by rival captain Steve Smith, who said that “ball will turn from Day 1”
Salgaoncar also added that there was pressure on them to prepare a pitch which would last only 3 days as the stadium had to be used for organizing wedding receptions during the ongoing wedding season.
Pune stadium has seen lot many wedding receptions this season and earnings from receptions is lot more than hosting a test match as crowds during the match was quiet feeble and not in large numbers.
In fact all the upcoming test matches at other cities will also be finished in 3 days for the stadiums to cater to a large number of weddings and other functions.
If there was a shot in the Mohali Test that said “you may as well shake hands now” it was Parthiv Patel‘s upper cut off Ben Stokes for four with India needing 48 runs to win. Parthiv was playing for India for the first time in eight years and he gave a fine account of himself, cracking 67 off 54 balls, including a lofted cover drive for four which became the winning runs
Parthiv had also made 42 in the first innings. Parthiv was picked for this match after Wriddhiman Saha got injured and he paid back the selector’s faith in some manner. Watching Parthiv’s comeback has motivated yesteryear keeper Nayan Mongia start practicing again so that even he can come back soon.
Nayan retired 14 years back from cricket but has vowed to make a strong comeback as a wicket keeper batsman for India. He has targeted the on going Ranji games as a last chance to be in reckoning for a India cap.
More than eight years after his previous Test match, and four years after his last international, wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel has earned a recall to India’s Test team.
At 17 years and 153 days, he became Test cricket’s youngest wicketkeeper in 2002; now he will be the second-oldest member in the XI if no other change is made to the side that took field in Visakhapatnam.
But the family members of Parthiv Patel are not happy, according to their plan Parthiv had to stand in the ATM queue on 26th November which is the scheduled date for the Ind Eng test match. Parthiv’s family is in serious trouble as they are in serious need of cash and his selection has brought more troubles than cure.
Parthiv has promised that he will not perform well and will get dropped for the fourth test so that he can come back to Ahmedabad and stand in the ATM queue. Some people are even spreading the news that Saha has faked injury to stand in a queue and get some cash for his family in Bengal.
Indian Bowlers faced a stern test from the English batsman, something they have not faced in the last 2-3 years of spin dominated test matches. Losing the toss came down heavily on the team’s moral as India gave over 500 runs after quite a long time.
But Indian batsman were up to the task and Murli Vijay and Gambhir made sure the test match is not over yet. Skipper Virat Kohli gave full credit for India’s batting to Shikhar Dhawan for not playing the test due to injury, or else India would be 63 for 1 wicket. Shikhar has been completely out of form in recent test matches and He has given his wicket too easily for the liking of Indian team management.
Shikhar’s absence has been a blessing in disguise for the Indian batsman as they have now not lost the first wicket too early to not recover back. 3rd day will be very crucial and with Shikhar Dhawan not in the team, Indian team has the upper hand. We should all thank Dhawan for this kind gesture as not many batsman have the guts to accept their failure and sit out of the team.
When the BCCI posted the Indian squad for the first two Tests of the England series on Twitter, there was a mighty surprise in store, for the last name on that list was a totally unexpected choice.
Not so long ago, the same player was called up for the ODI series against New Zealand – again unexpectedly – and went on to grab the Man of the Match award on his debut itself.
From being picked for Rs 10 lakh in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to playing a pivotal part in helping Mumbai Indians win their second title last year, and finally to being selected in the Indian Test squad, Hardik Pandya has had a meteoric rise
But BCCI selection committee headed by MSK Prasad has finally answered the question regarding Pandya’s selection. According to MSK, Indian has some chance to lose the series against England, and its difficult to blame a senior player for the lose. So its always better to have a fresher in the team whom you can blame and let the attention divert to the new player.
On the contrary Hardik thinks that he was selected because of his talent. Truth will be out only if India loses the test series.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian batsman, has been ruled out for a considerable period of time due to an injury that he suffered during the final One-Day International against New Zealand.
He will be assessed in England. In case itis required, he will undergo surgery,” said chief selector MSK Prasad while announcing the squad for the first two Tests against England on Wednesday (November 2)
The reason for the injury is something which is shocking. Everyone knows how less time Rohit spent at the crease during the New Zealand series, so there is no point of him getting injured on the field.
According to our reports, Rohit got injured in his room when he was typing on his laptop while using twitter. His thumb got badly swelled up and that’s the reason he is opting out of the England series. Sometime back we had also reported that Shikhar Dhawan got injured while returning to pavilion from the crease. These strange types of injuries are a surprise even for the doctors.
Suresh Raina has withdrawn his name from the first two ODIs against the New Zealand team due to high fever. Team doctor has advised him rest and he has not been allowed to do any practice for the next couple of days.
Meanwhile Indian captain Virat Kohli will have to include Kedhar Jhadav in the second game as well. But that’s not the end to the issue. Our sources have come to know that Raina’s fever has converted to viral fever after coming to know that the 3rd ODI pitch at Mohali will have steep bounce for the bowlers.
As we all know Raina’s skill set against bouncers is the same as the acting skill set possessed by Tushar Kapoor.
Raina has informed the team management about his latest condition and has vowed to make it to the 4th ODI at Ranchi. He has even contacted the Ranchi curator in person and asked about the bounce we will get to see in Ranchi, reports are not clear yet and we hope to see Raina soon in the blue jersey.
There is other news coming in that Kedar jadhav has bribed the Ranchi curator to add bounce to the wicket.
All we know that Raina is a very important player, of course for the New Zealand team and his presence will decide the fate of the series.
After losing all the Tests in a series they would have been hopeful of doing well in, Kane Williamson managed to retain some humor, but he knew his side was done in by a mix of difficult conditions for them, the quality of their opposition in those conditions, and their own lack of application at times.
According to Williamson, they dint lose, because their main purpose to come to India was for collecting Reliance Jio sim cards. Data charges are pretty high in New Zealand and the whole New Zealand team had decided that this was the best time to visit India.
Most of the test matches are finished in 4 days and all NZ cricketers were seen near a Reliance Digital outlet on the 5th day. Kane Williamson has taken cards for his family members also and has personally thanked Mukesh Ambani for this nice gesture.
Indian team meanwhile are confused whether to celebrate the victory or just focus on the next series. They have requested the Indian Government to not issue any sim cards to the English team which would be touring our country in November.
